Privacy Policy

Version 2026-09-07

Kindering is a map of hand-curated kid-friendly places. This policy describes exactly what the app does with data. It is short because the app collects very little.

Without an account

You can use Kindering fully without signing in. In that state nothing about you leaves your device. Places you mark are stored on the device only.

Your location

Location is used only while the app is open, and only to centre the map on you and sort places by distance. It is processed on your device and is never transmitted to us or stored anywhere. Declining the permission leaves the app fully usable.

With an account

If you create an account so your places follow you between devices, we store:

That is the complete list. We do not store your name, your children, your photos, your contacts, or any location history.

What we never do

Third parties

The map itself is Google Maps. Displaying it means your device requests map tiles and place details from Google, which is governed by Google's privacy policy. We send Google no account information.

Accounts and stored places are hosted on Amazon Web Services in Ireland (eu-west-1). Passwords are handled by Amazon Cognito and are never visible to us.

Your rights

From the Account screen in the app you can, at any time:

Deletion is immediate and irreversible — there is no soft-delete and no backup we can restore you from. You may also email us to exercise any right under the GDPR, including rectification and objection.

Children

Kindering is written for parents and carers. It is not directed at children, and it collects no information about them.

Retention

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Server logs contain no account identifiers beyond what is needed to serve a request.

Changes

Material changes bump the version above, and the app asks you to agree again. The date of the version you agreed to is stored with your account.
